News from our students and graduates

Joan Baillie, Anne Biss, Lois Woodger and Geraldine Festenstein will be taking part in the exhibition 'Quintus III' by their exhibiting group Quintus next year at the Waterloo Gallery in London from 21st to 27th June.

Jackie Langfeld has 5 figures in exhibitionism at the Courtauld Institute, and 3 other figures in Winchester Cathedral as part of the Hyde 900 project in an event called 'RE-imagining the Treasures of Hyde Abbey'.

Work by Tiziana Tateo has been chosen to be one of the 55 pieces archived in the permanent collection of the International Quilt Study Center at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. This particular piece was part of the SAQA 20th Anniversary Trunk Show.

'On the Melancholy of Tailors': an essay by Charles Lamb

As part of The Christine Risley Award, won by JC graduate Susie Vickery in 2009, this exhibition of Susie's work will be held at the Constance Howard Centre for Textiles from March 2nd - 25th 2010 (Tuesdays and Thursdays 10am to 4.30pm and Mondays by appointment).

At a preview event on March 4th, 6 - 8pm, 'On the Melancholy of Tailors', embroidered and animated by Susie, will be accompanied by a short operatic performance (RSVP connitex@gold.ac.uk by 25th February essential). Find full details of the preview and exhibition on the Goldsmiths web site.

Interviewing for Enrolment

An Interview Day for prospective students will be held at 44 Portland Place, London W1 on Friday 12th March 2010.

You will be required to bring a portfolio with a selection of your work to the interview. (For further details, see also the prospectus which you can download from this website).

The application deadline is Friday 19th February 2010.

PRISM Exhibition 2010

The next annual PRISM exhibition will take place from 31 May - 5 June 2010 in the Mall Galleries in London; the theme for the exhibition is evolve:evoke:expand.

PRISM is an independent group of professional textile artists who are supported and sponsored by Julia Caprara School of Textile Arts.

Graduates win awards

We are extremely pleased to announce that two of our students who both graduated this year have won prestigious awards.

Andrea Butler was awarded the title "Graduate of the Year 09/10" by the Textile Study Group. For further details see also the Textile Study Group website.

At the same time, Susie Vickery won the Christine Risley Award which is a yearly prize awarded by Goldsmiths University in association with the Constance Howard Resource and Research Centre. This award entitles her to two solo exhibitions at Goldsmiths University and at the Knitting & Stitching Show in London during next year.
