Julia Caprara School of Textile Arts offers you the opportunity to study on its unique, distance-learning course leading to a BA (Hons) in Embroidered Textiles, validated by Middlesex University.
This is a well-established course which since 1998 has educated year after year a motivated group of graduates who create innovative contemporary textile art.
Many of our graduates have set up a successful textile art practice or have become tutors at prestigious Art Colleges, while others go on to do a MA or even a PhD.
What does this course involve?
The course will provide you with the opportunity to explore the boundaries of your skills and techniques for textile and stitch and to give you an understanding of contemporary textile art practice. The programme which is a combination of experimental textile and theoretical modules (18 in total) will help you:
- to explore and develop art and design using textiles and stitch;
- to draw, design and create textile art from conceptual stage to final piece;
- to provide you with an insight into the position of textile art in the context of 19th and 20th century art to underpin your practical work;
- to develop your professional practice skills for marketing your artwork including the organisation of exhibitions.
For each of the 18 modules you will be assigned a specialist tutor who will conduct frequent one-to-one tutorials.
